Become a Positive Influence in the Future of the Beauty Industry

Thinking back to your own beauty education, who influenced you the most? For many of us, there was a specific teacher who encouraged us to be the best we could be as we learned more about hair, makeup, skincare, nails, or massage therapy. This 1,000-hour program is available at all four of our Iowa beauty school campuses. It includes hands-on, practical training with real classroom experience, allowing you to gain confidence as you direct a class and train students in the dynamic field of cosmetology. Learn How to Share Your Knowledge and Skills in the Classroom

The Barbering & Cosmetology Instructor program at Capri College provides students with the methodology and skills they need to be an instructor in a beauty school. In as few as 52 weeks, you could learn how to make lesson plans, how to present your knowledge in a classroom, how to manage a classroom, how to evaluate student skills, and much more. This 1,000-hour program includes supervised classroom instruction and supervised instruction in the student clinic.

Student teachers can benefit from the wisdom and instruction of licensed and trained barbering & cosmetology professional instructors with years of experience working in the industry. We prepare students to take for the State Exam, but most of all, we train them to be competent instructors in the classroom & clinic.

What Is It Like to Be a Student Teacher at Capri College?

Capri College is a family-owned business, and the family aspect of the college extends to every person, whether they are a student, student teacher, licensed instructor, or staff member. We foster a supportive environment where students can learn to be more confident in their skills and artistry.

Student teachers are in that middle ground where they can relate to both the current students of the other programs at our school and the instructors who are teaching them how to be a cosmetology instructor. As student teachers learn from the instructors and practice their skills in front of a classroom or in the student clinic, they may form relationships that last well beyond graduation.

Learning how to be a barbering and cosmetology instructor is a great opportunity to advance your own skills. You have the opportunity to review what current students are learning and study advanced skills that have evolved since your own undergraduate education. You may find that being a student teacher sparks greater passion for your trade as you learn how to share your knowledge with others.

I was a student at Capri and graduated last year. My instructors were all so supportive and kind and always there for us not just with school stuff but personal too. (The amount of times I cried in Surps office cuz I was having a bad day and she never ever made me feel bad for it and would let me sit there and talk to her until I felt better) Capri is not just about beauty, it’s about building lasting friendships and learning about yourself! 🫶🏻The beauty industry is literally billions of dollars and we can ALL be successful and Capri helped show us that!!!
