A licensed massage therapist could pursue a variety of careers that help others relax, reduce stress, relieve pain, and heal faster. For example, massage therapists can work in healthcare facilities, chiropractic offices, and physical fitness spas. They can be found in cosmetology salons and beauty spas. Many high-end hotels, resorts, and cruise ships hire massage therapists to provide their services to guests. Some massage therapists concentrate on a unique set of clientele, such as pregnant women and infants, or people under the care of hospice. Entrepreneurs could open and operate their own massage therapy clinic.
At Capri College, we help our students achieve their educational and career goals by teaching the skills that the current industry demands, preparing students to take for the State Exam, and providing career services. We cannot guarantee employment, but many of our students go on to do what they love.
Tuition and fees cost $8,520. Equipment, books, and uniforms cost $1,430. The total cost for the massage therapy program is $9,950.
Massage therapy students typically attend school 25 hours per week, four days a week, with schedules that vary by location. Some schedules may include evenings. This is a 600-hour program that takes as little as 26 weeks to complete.
In Iowa, to get a massage therapy license, you must complete 600 hours of in-class instruction and clinical training at a school approved by the Iowa Board of Massage Therapy. (Capri College is an approved school.) Then you must pass the State Exam for the massage therapy license. Our program is designed to prepare you to sit for the State Exam. Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required, and we can provide the training for those certifications at our school. Licensees must also pay the required licensure fee.
One of the key steps in the enrollment process is applying for financial aid, which is available to those who qualify. Find out what types of financial aid you qualify for by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). You can also call us at 1-800-728-7222 to talk to a Financial Aid advisor, who could provide personalized tips for making the program affordable.
